The Opportunity
The Facility Security Officer (FSO) is responsible for the daily administration, implementation, and oversight of facility security operations to protect personnel, visitors, contractors, assets, intellectual property, and business operations. The FSO serves as the primary site security representative and ensures compliance with company security standards, client requirements, applicable regulations, and industry best practices.
The FSO develops and maintains site security programs, manages access control systems, conducts investigations, coordinates emergency response activities, and promotes a proactive security culture across the facility. This role works closely with Operations, HSE, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities, and external law enforcement partners to ensure a safe and secure operating environment.
What you will do?
Security Program Administration
- Implement and maintain site security policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with corporate security requirements and client contractual obligations.
- Conduct periodic security assessments and vulnerability reviews.
- Identify security risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for site security performance.
- Maintain facility security plans, post orders, and emergency response procedures.
Access Control & Physical Security
- Administer facility access control systems, visitor management systems, and credentialing programs.
- Manage issuance, tracking, auditing, and deactivation of badges and access credentials.
- Ensure proper control of keys, locks, and restricted access areas.
- Monitor security technology systems including:
- CCTV
- Intrusion detection systems
- Access control systems
- Visitor management systems
- Alarm monitoring systems
- Coordinate maintenance and testing of security systems.
Incident Management & Investigations
- Respond to security incidents, threats, and emergencies.
- Lead or support investigations involving:
- Theft
- Property damage
- Workplace violence
- Security violations
- Unauthorized access
- Suspicious activity
- Collect and preserve evidence.
- Prepare incident reports and investigation summaries.
- Coordinate with law enforcement when required.
- Track corrective actions through closure.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Support facility emergency management and business continuity programs.
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
- Serve as a member of the site's emergency response team.
- Coordinate security response during emergencies including:
- Fire events
- Severe weather
- Active threat situations
- Facility evacuations
- Utility disruptions
- Natural disasters
- Support crisis communications and accountability efforts.
Contractor & Visitor Security Management
- Verify security requirements for contractors and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with visitor access procedures.
- Conduct security briefings for visitors and contractors as required.
- Monitor contractor adherence to site security requirements.
- Support project mobilization and demobilization security activities.
Security Operations Oversight
- Coordinate daily activities of contract security personnel.
- Conduct post inspections and security audits.
- Review officer performance and compliance.
- Verify staffing coverage and shift effectiveness.
- Support development of security staffing plans.
- Ensure security personnel maintain professional standards and customer service expectations.
Security Awareness & Training
- Deliver security awareness training to employees and contractors.
- Support onboarding and site orientation programs.
- Promote threat awareness and reporting programs.
- Conduct periodic drills and exercises.
- Maintain security training records.
Reporting & Performance Metrics
- Maintain security records, reports, and documentation.
- Develop and submit security performance metrics.
- Track and trend:
- Security incidents
- Access violations
- Theft and loss events
- Visitor activity
- Alarm activations
- Investigation outcomes
- Provide monthly security performance reports to the Sr. Security Manager.

Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Emergency Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent military, law enforcement, or security experience may be substituted.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of security, law enforcement, military, or corporate security experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing facility security operations.
- Experience with access control, CCTV, investigations, and emergency response programs.
- Experience supervising contract security personnel preferred.

Authority
The Facility Security Officer has authority to:
- Stop activities that present an immediate security threat.
- Deny or revoke facility access when security requirements are not met.
- Initiate incident investigations.
- Recommend disciplinary action for security violations.
- Escalate significant security concerns directly to the Sr. Security Manager.
- Coordinate emergency security response activities during incidents.
Legal & Regulatory Requirements
- Must possess legal authorization to work in [Country/Region] without restriction
- Must maintain an active, valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
- Must successfully complete background checks and any site-specific screenings (e.g., drug/alcohol testing)
Work Environment
- Required to wear appropriate PPE on site (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, high-visibility apparel, etc.)
- Exposure to typical industrial or construction conditions: noise, dust, moving machinery, heights, confined spaces
- Must be physically capable of walking, standing, climbing ladders/scaffolds, and accessing elevated work areas for inspections
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support urgent incident response, audits, or special training events
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between facility sites as required, up to 10%
