Field Service Tech II - Generators

The Opportunity

In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial generators. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

What you will do?

  • Perform routine maintenance, installation, and commissioning of generators, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational issues with generators and perform necessary repairs to restore equipment to full functionality.
  • Provide exceptional service to customers by answering inquiries, explaining service procedures, and addressing concerns regarding generator systems.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and load bank tests to verify system performance, electrical output, and efficiency.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules to reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns and prolong equipment life.
  • Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future service or repairs.
  • Adhere to all company and industry safety guidelines while working on equipment and in customer environments.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency repairs or service calls outside regular working hours, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and organizational objectives.
  • Works in customer environments, job sites, outdoor settings, and confined spaces as required.
  • Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, lifting, climbing ladders, and working at heights.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Generator Service Technician or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of generator systems, electrical systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools and electronic test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Relevant certifications, such as OSHA, NFPA, or ASE, are preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and confined spaces.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights when necessary.
